Marylebone Times, 23rd October, 1896
Dr Danford Thomas held an Inquest yesterday at the Paddington Coroner's Court, touching the death of John Pardon, aged 73, a cab proprietor, lately living at 20 Pindock Mews, St. Peter's Park.

The widow said her husband had owned three cabs and used to go out driving himself. On Saturday 10th inst. he was at home and hearing that a horse and cab had returned to the yard, he went to assist Mr. Ingram, one of his drivers, to unharness the horse. Whilst he was doing this, the horse bolted, knocking her husband down, and causing the cab wheels to go over his body. He was taken indoors and put to bed and a doctor was sent for, but he died on Saturday inst. John Ingram of 16 Hampden Street Harrow Road, said the deceased was helping him to unharness the horse when it bolted, the deceased in trying to stop it was knocked down and run over. The animal was very quiet except when being taken in and out of the mews. The medical evidence showed that the deceased had several of his ribs fractured, and that death was due to the injuries sustained. Jury returned a verdict of accidental death.
