This is the last Will and Testament of me William Gleave of Delamere in the County of Chester Farmer.
1. I nominate and appoint my Brother in law Richard Lewis of Oakmere and my son John Gleave when he shall attain twenty one years of age Executors and Trustees for the purpose of this my Will and direct the payment by them of all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses so soon as conveniently may be after my decease.
2. I give and bequeath to each of my daughters Phoebe and Sarah twenty pounds on their respectively attaining twenty one years of age and to my Executors herunbefore named the sum of five pounds each.
3. I have already given to my said daughter Phoebe the bedstead bed and bedding in my bedroom and a Chest of Drawers in her own room and to my said daughter Sarah the Chest of Drawers in my said Room and a Couch in the Parlour and I hereby declare the same to be their respective properties absolutely.
4. I give unto my Sister in law Sarah Gleave the parts of my house and land at Delamere occupied by Joseph Gleave and also the free use and enjoyment of the house and land occupied by herself for and during her natural life such rents to be collected and received by the Trustees or Trustee under this my Will and the balance (after deducting the costs of repair and insurance) paid to the said Sarah Gleave when received.
5. And subject to the foregoing gifts I give devise and bequeath all and singular my estate and effects both real and personal unto the said Richard Lewis and to the said John Gleave when he shall attain twenty one years of age and to the survivor of them his heirs executors and administrators In trust nevertheless for such of my Children namely Hannah Walker, Mary Walker, Elizabeth Nicholas, Phoebe Gleave, George Gleave, John Gleave, Joseph Gleave and Sarah Gleave as shall live to attain twenty one years of age but no division or distribution of my residuary estate shall take place or be made until all my said Children who shall live to attain or shall have attained that age. And upon such division or distribution I will and direct that thirty pounds shall be deducted from the share of my son George and divided equally amongst my other Children.
6. And I hereby direct and declare that my said Trustees or Trustee for the time being of this my Will shall and are fully authorized and empowered to sell and dispose of my said houses and land at Delamere and all other my real estate after the decease of my said Sister in law Sarah Gleave and to ?convey? and assure to the purchasers thereof And that they or he shall nevertheless have full power and authority to suspend or postpone the sale of my real estate or any part thereof and also the conversion of my personal estate or any part thereof for any time and from time to time as they or he may think to the advantage of my estate.
7. Provided always and I will and declare that my Executors and Trustees shall not be answerable for any involuntary misfortune loss or damage that may happen to my estate nor the one for the other of them but each for his own actual receipts acts and defaults only. Proved at Chester the 9th day of February 1876 by the oath of Richard Lewis one of the Executors to whom Administration was granted. Power reserved of making the like Grant to John Gleave the son (now a minor) the other Executor named in the Will when he shall attain the age of twenty one years.
The Testator William Gleave was late of Delamere in the County of Chester Farmer and died on the 4th day of December 1875 at Delamere aforesaid.
